Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Health Safety & QA Officer collaborates and partners with Project Managers to develop and implement Health and Safety systems and strategies that enables a positive safety culture to keep our people safe, healthy and well.
The role is responsible for performing the delivery of diverse and contemporary safety & QA approaches and practices within the Commercial business segment, at various locations.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving work environment, and you will be promoting and supporting a strong health and safety culture across our workforce.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform site safety inspections, hazard identifications and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions across all sites
- Support compliance with legislation, MAAS policies and standards and the safety management system, including direct responsibility for Skytrust & or other Software reporting to Group
- Investigate injuries and incidents and provide corrective action recommendations
- Maintain and review safety documentation and systems, including development of SWMS
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics
- Assist with new employee inductions and training, including educating the workforce on their rights and obligations under relevant safety legislation
- Assist with internal audits and support action plans
- Maintain and update current company corporate procedures to be in alignment with new process and management systems
- Complete company internal corporate audits. (yearly)
- Attend, coordinate and manage company ISO audits (yearly)
- Maintain ISO requirements in WHS, QA and ENV systems.
- Maintain adherence to Site Safety & Quality obligations from the broader teams
- EOM Reporting is concise & completed on time where delegated including uploading EOM
- Reporting through to Group Safety Reporting System
- Ensuring we have an up-to-date ISO accredited system & compliance is adhered to.
- Transferring the current Paper Based system fully into Electronic withing a 6-month period, whilst maintaining current obligations.
- Assisting in setting up Site Safety & QA Management Plans for Projects
- Assisting in Site Safety Advice, not just a spot & report person.
- Working towards making safety a part of the inherent culture of the business through regular visits, proactive encouragement & engagement.
- Regular training with current & new team members
- Being able to manage the role autonomously & make required suggestions to the team to better efficiencies & outcomes.
- All Safety expectations & reporting are being met.
- Effectively participate in Weekly team meetings
- Assist with Workcover Claims Management and Return to Work Coordination when required for specific operations.
Knowledge and experience required:
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety / OHS
- Good understanding of Work Health and Safety Legislation
- Strong Knowledge of QA systems & Implementation
- Working knowledge of acts, regulations codes of practice and standards
- Operating knowledge of construction
- Experience in Health and Safety, preferably in a blue-collar industry
- Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs and systems e.g. SharePoint
